There is a pastor in our conference who had an older woman in her congregation who was the widow of a pastor. One day, the widow shared a story with her pastor about her husband. She began by explaining that he had spent 30 years serving his last congregation. She then went on to say that every Wednesday of that time, they had a prayer meeting. And at every prayer meeting, a woman asked them to pray for the Allisons. There was never any explanation given about who the Allisons were, or why they needed prayer. But each time, the people who gathered would pray for them – believing that God knew who they were and understood their need.
