What should I wear to a worship service?
In ages past, Christians often wore “their Sunday Best” to worship. For other church activities, people often dressed less casually, but still dressed in “going out” clothes. Today, things are a bit more relaxed. In most churches today, men do not always wear jackets and ties, and women no longer typically attend in fancy dresses and hats – although some still do. The common advice these days is to dress neatly, and with respect for oneself and others (especially those who may be of an older generation, and still see wearing their “Sunday Best” as a sign of respect to God). Businesses used to refer to this kind of less formal clothing as “business casual,” although even that is a bit vague nowadays with the allowance of jeans and polo shirts in many offices. The best advice, then, might be to dress as neatly and nicely as you can without being uncomfortably formal.
How long does a worship service last?
Most worship services run no more than an hour, although they can go a bit longer than that when it is a communion Sunday, or other special events are occurring.
Which door should I enter?
Standing in the parking lot facing the church, there are two entrances. The first entrance is on the right end of our facilities, at the end of the sidewalk and stairs, between the large white pillars outside the sanctuary. This leads directly into the sanctuary. The second entrance is to the left side of our facilities, along the drive through lane and portico. This entrance leads to the fellowship hall, the offices, meeting rooms off the Fellowship Hall and downstairs under the sanctuary, and the elevator for handicapped access to the sanctuary. There are also stairs to the sanctuary next to the elevator.
Is the entire building accessible for those wish disabilities?
Yes. There is an elevator which provides access to all three levels (Fellowship Hall, Sanctuary, and Sunday School Rooms). From the outside, it can be reached by entering through the doors at the portico entrance. All bathrooms are also handicap accessible.
How do I become a member of the church?
Each week, there is a card in the bulletin for recording one’s attendance, asking for prayers for those in need, and inquiring about membership. To begin the process of joining the church, fill out the information on the card, and place it in the offering plate. The pastor and the church office will reply, and let you know when the next new member class will be held.
